Guggenheim Hires Evercores Sena for Technology, Media Expertise

Guggenheim Partners, the firm run by Chief Executive Officer Mark Walter and Chairman Alan Schwartz, hired Evercore Partners Inc.s Ken Sena for its securities division.

He will be a senior managing director and help bolster the firms expertise in technology, media and telecommunications companies, Guggenheim said Friday in a statement. Sena will work from offices in New York and San Francisco.

Walter and Schwartz have been building the securities unit, which includes its investment banking and capital markets divisions. The company opened an office in San Francisco and has been hiring people who have worked at rival firms including Deutsche Bank AG and Jefferies Group.

Ken is a true thought leader in helping frame the evolution of the internet and disruptive technologies, Gerald Donini, co-CEO of Guggenheim Securities, said in the statement. His strong thematic approach will complement our institutional expertise across TMT and strengthen our coverage of other sectors confronting technology-induced change.

Sena previously worked at Evercore, where he covered internet companies for six years, according to the statement. He held buy ratings on Amazon.com Inc. and Alphabet Inc., while recommending that investors sell shares of Netflix Inc., according to data compiled by Bloomberg.

Sena has worked at Credit Suisse Group AG and Bear Stearns, Guggenheim said. Hes also spent years at TV channels including MTV and Showtime.

Dana Gorman, a spokesman for Evercore at Abernathy MacGregor, declined to comment.
